We're not entirely sure what is going on with Krystal, but the goth makeover and new seafood menu have all the hallmarks of some sort of midlife crisis (which we can definitely relate to), so we stopped by both the Lawrenceville and Lilburn locations to check in.
Krystal might not be known for their seafood, but if you thought we'd pass up the opportunity for Krystal shrimp and Krabbycakes, well dear readers, you just don't know us at all do you? We jumped on that combo like a chicken on a junebug.
The verdict? It tastes just like it looks: delicious. We ordered ours sans tartar sauce because we're not complete psychopaths, but this meal was truly inspirational. The shrimp were fried to crispy perfection, the Krabbycake was nothing short of divine, and the fries even had the perfect amount of salt, not to mention the whole thing was cooked fresh to order. They might be going through some things right now, but Krystal, we've got your back as long as you keep the Krabbycakes coming. 13/10, recommended.
