In a welcome effort to add more cultural elements to the DTL vibe, the Lawrenceville Arts Center has erected countless yards of blue construction screens in an apparent homage to the great master of Cubism, Pablo Picasso. Stretching down Crogan and even wrapping around the Chestnut Street parking deck, the blank blue tapestries offer passersby a chance to reflect inward as they navigate the historic art district and downtown square.
We asked The Man On The Street how he felt about the installment, and he assessed it as follows. "I'm a fan. Picasso's Blue Period was characterized by depressing subject matter and monochromatic blue, and Lawrenceville has certainly captured both of those elements on a grand scale." Keep it classy, Gwinnett. This is not a political forum, nor is it place for intolerance or crude behavior of any sort. We are all in this together, so just enjoy the ride.
