On this day in 1898, Oliver Hardy was born in the quiet hamlet of Harlem, Georgia. Oliver's family moved around frequently during his childhood, landing in Lawrenceville in 1900 before settling in Milledgeville in 1903, where at the age of 12 he got a job as movie theater projectionist, which inspired him to pursue a career in showbiz. Though his time in Gwinnett was brief, we'll always appreciate our connection to the bigger half of legendary duo, Laurel and Hardy.
