We Have a Witch!

Gwinnetians, we are absolutely thrilled to report that we have discovered evidence of witchcraft in Lawrenceville. On an afternoon stroll through our favorite graveyard, the historic Old Lawrenceville Cemetery, we happened to notice two eggs and a candle in front of the Juhan headstone, as seen in the photos above and below.

Ask yourself this, dear readers: what is the most plausible reason for such items to be placed on a grave that is more than a century old? Let's evaluate a few hypothetical scenarios.

Scenario A: the items were placed by a relative of the deceased as a memorial.

Evaluation: In the somewhat unlikely instance that a relative of the Juhans is paying tribute to them over one hundred years after their deaths, they would probably place flowers on the grave, not eggs or a candle. Therefore, we are discounting Scenario A.

Scenario B: someone had a graveyard picnic and these are the leftovers.

Evaluation: If the eggs are leftovers from a picnic, the candle implies that this picnic happened at night. We find it unlikely that someone had a picnic in front of the Juhan grave at night, and happened to leave behind two eggs and their candle. Therefore, we are discounting Scenario B.

Scenario C: a chicken has been laying eggs in the graveyard.

Evaluation: It is plausible that a wayward chicken would lay eggs in the cemetery, however these eggs look like grocery store eggs, and chickens aren't known to use candles. Therefore, we are discounting Scenario C.

Scenario D: a witch has been casting spells in the graveyard.

Evaluation: Eggs have been connected with witchcraft for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Candles are also commonly used by witches. Witches are also known to frequent cemeteries. Therefore, we believe Scenario D, a witch has indeed been casting spells in the graveyard.

We're just excited as you are, because it's not every day that a bonafide witch comes to town. The only question that remains is, what sort of witch are we dealing with? Personally, we're hoping more for The Craft than the Blair Witch.
