Planet of the Apes: Collins Hill Ape-ocalypse

Welcome to ground zero for the Gwinnett Ape-ocalypse, the Yerkes/Emory Primate Research Center on Collins Hill Road. For today's exclusive report, we dropped by to check in on our future primate overlords.

We've seen enough movies to know that the containment fence and security gate seen above doesn't stand a chance once the apes decide it's their turn to be the apex species.

The screenshot above is from the Yerkes website and describes the animal army we'll be up against in great detail, a horde of monkeys and rats that have been subjected to everything from organ transplants to AIDS, so we anticipate they're not going to be in the mood for a peaceful transition of power.

The Prestwyck neighborhood marks a likely frontline for the initial ground assault. As seen below, Prestwyck borders the primate facility, with yards that back right up to the containment fence. Once the fence is breached, we can only hope that the Prestwyckians will be able to stem the ape tide long enough to buy the rest of Gwinnett time to begin evacuations.

The main experimentation unit (shown below) is visible through the trees at the end of Prestwyck Oak Place. The first wave will likely be the mutant rodent infantry, followed by primate battalions.

The Yerkes Primate Center has a long and sordid history. Excerpted below are just some of the facility's transgressions over the years. From brain extractions to botched surgeries, from staff deaths to escaped monkeys, you have to wonder just how long we've got until the Collins Hill Ape-ocalypse kicks off.

We are actively monitoring the situation here at Daily Gwinnetian HQ. As always dear readers, you'll know as soon as we know, so stay tuned for full coverage of the impending Ape-ocalypse.

Keep it classy, Gwinnett. This is not a political forum, nor is it place for intolerance or crude behavior of any sort. We are all in this together, so just enjoy the ride.
