If you ever found yourself gazing into the Buford skies and wondering who that mysterious figure is looming high above the Mall of Georgia, we've got you covered here at DGHQ. He's not Superman, the Man of Steel, but he's pretty close. You're looking at none other than Button Gwinnett, the Man of Fiberglass.
The image above, courtesy of our friends at the AJC, shows Button in all his fiberglass glory before being lifted to the Mall of Georgia summit. Button may have died tragically in a duel at the hands of Lachlan McIntosh on May 19, 1777 (a day that will live in infamy for all Gwinnetians), but he lives forever in our hearts as he keeps a watchful eye on his namesake county from the heights of our most prominent monument to consumer culture.
