Gwinnett > Delaware

If you've been in Gwinnett more than about five minutes, it may seem like there are people everywhere. Traffic jams, checkout lines ... you can shake just about any random bush and three or four people will fall right out of it.

If you've been here longer, you might remember the days when you could walk a couple of feet without tripping over someone or drive to the grocery store in less than a half hour, but those days are long gone because Gwinnett just passed the one million population mark.

That's right, and it seems to be going up by the second. We often associate numbers in the millions with mysterious distant metropolises like New York or Los Angeles, but those might not even be real places and we've got over a million right here in Gwinnett, putting our humble county ahead of not only most cities in the US, but quite a few states.

By the numbers:

  • Wyoming: 576,851 people
  • Vermont: 643,077 people
  • Alaska: 733,391 people
  • North Dakota: 779,094 people
  • South Dakota: 886,667 people
  • Delaware: 989,948 people
As an added point of comparison, the city of Atlanta population is a meager 500,000, making Gwinnett twice the size of our illustrious capital.

If you're still reading this and you're currently in Gwinnett County, you are in fact part of the problem. We recommend packing up for Wyoming or some other mythical and sparsely populated location, because the more of you who head out of here, the more likely we can go skating at Sparkles without getting run over every five seconds.
