Happy Birthday, Lilburn!

Today we say happy birthday to our lovable hamlet of Lilburn, incorporated on this day in 1910. The area was originally a railroad community known as McDaniel in the 1800s, and was renamed in 1910 for Seaboard Airline Railway executive Lilburn Trigg Myers.

But besides a guy in a cool top hat, Lilburn has many other claims to fame.

1. Due to Mayor Johnny Crist's apparent passion for Yugos, Lilburn is the sister city of Suva Reka, Kosovo. Click here to read our exclusive report

2. The largest Hindu temple in the world behind a Walgreens is also in Lilburn. Click here to read our exclusive coverage.

3. Lilburn is the location of Five Forks Trickum Road, which does not have five forks. Click here to read our exclusive report.

Sometimes, tourists who are looking for Lilburn Tower, a manor built in northeast England near the Scottish border around 1200 AD, accidentally arrive in Lilburn by mistake. If you happen to see anyone wandering around aimlessly and asking about Lilburn Tower, kindly redirect them to the airport at Briscoe Field, which is incidentally the same airport where the 9/11 hijackers trained, but that's a story for another day.

Above, Lilburn Tower, but enough with the history, we know what's on your mind: "I haven't been mugged in a while and I'm out of practice. Is Lilburn a good place to get mugged?"

As you can see, Lilburn is actually a pretty decent place to get mugged. It has a crime rate higher than about 65% of US cities, which would definitely put you in the running for some sort of property crime at the very least, but if you really want to get mugged, nearby Norcross offers far greater opportunities to hone your craft. We recommend a full stretching regimen first if you've been out of the game for a while; you don't want the embarrassment of blowing a hamstring on your first mugging.
