In a spectacular display of brazen betrayal, the Gwinnett County government has turned against their own, filing a motion in Fulton County that would declare the nascent city of Mulberry unconstitutional, going so far as to declare, "The City of Mulberry should not be allowed to come into being."
You may remember that the Mulberry referendum was approved by Gwinnett voters back in May, a victory celebrated by the Mulberry Liberation Front and everyone who enjoys a world-class round of disc golf out at Hog Mountain. But now, the Gwinnett County government has decided they know better than their own voters? This is a bridge too far (unlike the scenic Ravine and West Meadow Loop Bridge in Little Mulberry Park, shown below, which is a bridge just right).
We swung by Mulberry Liberation Front HQ to catch up with The Man on The Street for his take on this latest round of opposition, and we found him sitting on the turret of a T-34 tank, smoking a Pall Mall and blocking the entrance to Little Mulberry.
DG: The tank is new. We're guessing you're aware of the new lawsuit?
TMOTS (lovingly patting the entry hatch): You really can buy anything on the internet these days.
DG: Any thoughts on this latest legal hurdle?
TMOTS (blowing smoke and staring into the distance): Sadly, it was to be expected. The only thing less trustworthy than an ex-wife is a current government. They even had to slink off to Fulton County to file it. But Mulberry is not just these hills, these trails, this disc golf course. Mulberry is an idea, and no government has ever successfully killed an idea.
DG: Well, they killed Four Loko. That new recipe is a joke. It's only got one of the Lokos, the FDA took away three of them.
TMOTS (raising a fist to the sky as, somewhere, an eagle cries): But they didn't get the fourth one, did they? And they won't get Mulberry either. Not as long as I've got breath in my body and 76mm shells in this tank. We have started a fire, and now the fire rises.

Keep it classy, Gwinnett. This is not a political forum, nor is it place for intolerance or crude behavior of any sort. We are all in this together, so just enjoy the ride.
