Gwinnett's Most Misunderstood Street Sign

Long-time DG subscribers have no doubt read our PSA about driving in Gwinnett, but we felt the need to highlight one particular street sign for emphasis as it seems to be almost completely misunderstood. If you have driven in Gwinnett for more than about fifteen minutes, you are likely aware that Gwinnetians have almost no concept of what a stop sign means, but somewhat ironically, they almost always interpret a 'keep moving' sign as a stop sign.

*editor's note: yes, we are aware of what 'ironic' means. That's why we said 'somewhat ironically'. It's not like we're Alanis Morissette, who wrote an entire song about irony, in which nothing ironic happened, and then named the song "Ironic", which is in fact the only ironic thing about the song.

But we digress, and we're not entirely sure what it is about a 'keep moving' sign that inspires such trepidation in Gwinnetian hearts, but it's not uncommon to be behind a line of cars at a 'keep moving' sign like the one shown above near Mall of Georgia, each coming to a complete stop and even looking both ways, knowing full well they have never behaved in this manner at an actual stop sign. Thus, we propose that all stop signs be replaced with 'keep moving' signs, and all 'keep moving' signs be replaced with stop signs; this seems to be the only system that will actually make sense to the Gwinnetian mind.
